Calculating Equity

With this fantastic free tool, you can calculate your hand equity from any given situation.

Definition

Pot Equity : The portion of the pot that you should, on average, expect to collect, based on the circumstances you currently face and staying in the hand until the showdown on the river

In the example shown in the screenshot on the left, AA has a 66.84% chance of winning the pot outright and a 0.45% chance of splitting the pot, giving a total equity of 66.99%.

Hands for up to 10 players can be specified as well as flop, turn and river cards, along with dead cards.

Intuitive User Interface

Selecting the cards couldn't be easier. Simply click on the cards button and pick out your cards from the cards selector.

To enter cards manually in the Hand Distributions field, simply type them in the following form :

Ab

where A indicates the value of the card, e.g. A, K, Q etc. and b indicates the suit, e.g.  h, s, d, c

So, the ace of hearts and the king of clubs would be represented by AhKc.

To indicate a random starting hand, you can use either of the following notations :

  • XxXx
  • random

Selecting a Range of Cards

When calculating the pot equity we normally won't be able to put our opponent on 2 specific cards.

Equity Calculator allows you to specify a range of cards. For example, we may be up against a re-raise from a very tight player who only plays premium hands. From this information we could probably deduce that he holds AA, AKs, AQs, AKo or KK. Using the range selector will allow the Equity Calculator to include a range of possible starting hands in its calculations.

These ranges can be entered manually in the Hand Distribution field. Using the previous example, we could enter the range in the following way :

AA-KK, AKs-AQs, AKo
